Sweet Service
“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy” I Peter 4:12-13 NKJV
Strange is always sweet in God’s economy; but it takes a daily supply of grace for anyone to ride along the flow. Using the spirit illustration of the flow of healing waters to Ezekiel, the supply comes in incremental versions until “Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed (Ezekiel 47:5)”. With the evidence of divine guidance through the passages in life, career, and ministry, it is always sweet to be brought through the waters of supposed sufferings and shame, as long as the glory of God is up for grab at the end of the flow. Little wonder why Apostle Peter admonished the brethren “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you“. Actually, it is always a great privilege for anyone to be called to offer any sweet service of supposed suffering upon the altar of the Lord, especially when the glory of God is consistently in view.
