Pure Praise
“Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.” Psalms 67:3 NKJV
Personal praise does not only infringe the glory of God, it also invites the grudge of peoples. When people see personal praise in the dream and vision of a member of their family, jealousy, competition, and disunity are created; like it erupted and disrupted the pursuit of peace and progress in the family of Jacob with a target on the vision of Joseph. Also, David can better tell the story of his pain and anguish when people see personal praise instead of pure praise. And despite the special anointing and divine distinction for service from the Lord, king Saul and many enemies in David’s life were disrupted by their perception of personal praise in the evaluation of David. And like it was obvious in the stories of Joseph, David, and many others who suffered the pain of personal praise, the enemy often used the focus on personal praise to incite the adversaries. Therefore, when the psalmist cried out to the Lord “Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You”, he understood the import of pure praise for people’s collaboration. As soon as people can see the glory of God alone in any man’s life pursuit, they are likely to either join forces towards the pure praise or to stop fighting the non-existent personal praise.
