Inclusive Isolation
“But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel said to them, “You may do nothing with us to build a house for our God; but we alone will build to the LORD God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.” Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building, and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.”

Resistance to the pursuit of the glory of God has been recognized as one of the evidences of living for a course higher than self. Discipline and dedication are absolutely necessary in order to avoid distractions from enemies of progress. While the enemies of the people of Judah and Jerusalem have perfected their schemes of insurrection, the people of God countered by appealing to the science of isolation. And although the enemies’ scheme of insurrection prevented the speedy completion of the building until the reign of Darius king of Persia, there is wisdom in the strategy of inclusive isolation for all who must keep focus on godly vision in life. Detractors to every good course in the projects of life can be carefully accommodated; but their forceful influences in project execution can be consistently isolated. “You may do nothing with us to build a house for our God; but we alone will build to the LORD God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us”. Building for the glory of God is nothing compared to building for the praise of men. Whenever the righteous insist on building on integrity and probity in all services of life, the enemies of God and godliness are easily and inclusively isolated. However, it is up to the righteous to be consistent with his integrity in the heat of insurrection, until the reward for inclusive isolation is fully appreciated.
