Gracious God
“Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”...For thus says the LORD: ‘Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.’” Jeremiah 32:26-27, 42 NKJV

The difference between the conviction of sin or every form of unrighteousness and the assurance of salvation is the admittance of the grace of God. Without the receipt of God’s grace, the convicted soul is perpetually crushed by the heavy load of sin and the consequences of his wrongdoing. Prophet Jeremiah sought the face of God with great burden, after a clear conception of the sin of Judah and Israel or the righteous review of the consequences of God’s judgement. Thereafter, the promise of future restoration from God became inconceivable for the righteous prophet of God. Whereas, just as one trust the power of God’s words to convict the vilest offender, it is possible to trust the power of God’s grace to convert the convicted sinner into the land where milk and honey flow forever and freely. When the redeemed children of God painfully struggle with the fetters of sin and immorality, it merely underscores the undermining of the power of God’s grace. For example, when His words declare “For sin cannot have dominion over you”, how many of God’s children have truly responded to His solemn concern “Is there anything too hard for Me?”. Absolute freedom from the captivity of sin and the assurance of salvation are natural products of the grace of God.
