Good God

“therefore thus says the LORD: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his family: he shall not have anyone to dwell among this people, nor shall he see the good that I will do for My people, says the LORD, because he has taught rebellion against the LORD.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.29.32.nkjv
If the character of God is limited to the understanding of what He does, then there cannot be any justification for the punishment of rebellion against the divine call to godliness. Because the experiences of godly people in life does not always seem good, many are tempted to query the uprightness of life’s circumstances and the exhortation for perseverance and endurance. Shemaiah the Nehelamite resisted the inspired prophecy through Jeremiah on the basis of the concern for the goodness of a good God in believers’ gory experiences. Hasn’t the steadfast love of the Lord ceased, when pain and persecution appears the permanent pavilion of the people of God? Obviously, faith is required to know that the character of God extend beyond our understanding of what He does. God is good, not just because He does good; but because He cannot do otherwise. Unfortunately, the lack of faith in God only precludes His followers from partaking in the good that He has reserved for the faithful people.

Honourable Honesty

  “ Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds.
