Wayward Will
“For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not, And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift horses ”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!”
Isaiah 30:15-16 NKJV

Charismatic pursuit of the will of God in every area of human endeavour often adopt the stereotype of smooth ride, intelligent slide and beautiful appearance in believers’ prestige, prosperity, and prospects. Whereas, the expected ends in the pursuit of the sincere will of God does not necessarily attract blissful beginnings. To God, confidence in the God of the Will is preferred to the expected comfort in the will of God. That way, believers are able to stay quiet and confident, especially when the pursuit of the revealed of God appears to attract unfavourable occurrences. Unfortunately, proponents of the wayward will are always interested in the smooth ride, intelligent slide and the beautiful appearances of their great expectations. Whenever the pursuits of the ‘will of God’ brings unfavourable pain, persecution, and a call for prolonged patience, the waywardness in Christians quickly reveals the lack of absolute trust and confidence in God through humanly-devised schemes. Notwithstanding the attraction to the wayward will, confidence in the quiet Spirit of Israel often brings better results than comfort in the lousy strength of Pharaoh and the proud shadow of Egypt.
