Decent Delight

“Now the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and understanding— these joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in God’s Law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes:” ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭10:28-29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/neh.10.28-29.nkjv
Anyone would rightly query the decency in entering into a curse and an oath to walk in God's Law, until the penalty of interaction with the world, outside the presence of God, is properly reviewed. The remnants of the Israelites from the captivity have had the knowledge and understanding of the consequences of breaking away from the precious covenant with the Lord. Now with the privilege to renew the covenant made by their fathers in the wilderness, it was the normal thing to preserve the sacredness of a romance with the Lord, to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD their God. When a honest review of all its takes to get delivered from the bondage of sin and unrighteousness is done, a true believer will be willing to give whatever its possible to remain separated from the world and its worldliness. After all, hell has sworn to keep as many as possible away from their covenant relationship with the Lord and the fulfilment of His promised rest. Considering the ferocious entanglement in the present social world, it is an utmost decent delight to declare total submission to the will of God, with a sacred seal binding self and the entire household. A decent delight in God's word is the only antidote against the indecent attraction to the world.
