Fainting Faithfulness
““O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your faithfulness is like a morning cloud, And like the early dew it goes away. Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of My mouth; And your judgments are like light that goes forth.” Hosea 6:4-5 NKJV
No doubt, the fainting of Ephraim and Judah speaks volume about the challenges with believers’ faithfulness in human, family and workplace relationships and their consequences to God’s services. It just goes to show that God’s services cannot be faithfully delivered by human resources, like academic knowledge, financial strength, and political sagacity. These carnal resources are readily subject to diminishing returns, needless to mention the risk of offense, conflict of interests, and selfishness. Little wonder the scriptures admonished elsewhere that “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1)”. While a living, holy, and selfless sacrifice is acceptable before God as reasonable service, believers must learn how to wait upon the Lord consistently for a renewal of strength to bring this sacrifice upon the altar. We need all the grace from the waiting room to be stretched by God without fainting, so we can all serve to strengthen those who are tempted to fall into fainting faithfulness.
