Divine Dwelling

  ““But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!” ‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ The concept of divine dwelling is different from human dwelling. While man thinks about physical occupation when it comes to dwelling, God is only interested in the desire to retain His presence in man. Therefore, God will either take 100% of us or reject 99% of us. Unfortunately, man sees more of competition when it comes to cultivating the presence of God, rather than companionship. And by dedicating the new temple to God, Solomon provided clarification on the concept of divine dwelling with a rhetorical question “ But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? ”.   ““The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, The Rock of my salvation!” ‭‭II Samuel‬ ‭22:47‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Without the overwhelming difficulties, challenges, and the activities of opposing forces or enemies, man will surely be an island unto himself; needless to mention the mindless thought about the possible existence of the supernatural. The all-sufficient man lives alone until he is humbled by the forces higher than himself. Therefore, when David said “ The Lord lives! ”, we can understand the import of his finding God as the  Rock, Refuge, Strength in times of troubles and the vicissitudes of life. Those whose faith is solidly built on the existence of God are always grateful for their overwhelming problems, either in the family, career, and the ministry.
