Right Race

The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright, But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, But the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.” Proverbs 11:3, 5-6 NKJV

In organized clime and performance-driven establishments, there are reliable metrics for policy guidance, distribution of remuneration, and recognition of services. Even in our society, leaders emerge mostly through systems regulated by the people’s consciousness and commendation of variable metrics. Therefore, it is understandable when and why people engage in rat race at home, institutions, workplaces, and our communities. Unfortunately, this legitimate rat race often produces costly blind spots on integrity, uprightness, and righteousness. When we aim for remuneration and recognition at the expense of righteousness, the return is always rottenness and retribution from the Lord our impartial Judge. It implies that the right race in life does not derive its guidance and motivation from the world’s standard for remuneration and recognition. For example, while the rat race is fixated on who ride the best cars, lived in the most expensive mansions, and attained the highest political position, the right race is guided by the pursuit of righteousness and uprightness in any home setting or work engagement. Obviously, the right race is strictly motivated by the pursuit of integrity, uprightness, and righteousness, while ultimately focussed on satisfying the world’s standard of remuneration and recognition; and the latter is deliberately allowed to be subservient to the former.
