Cloud Calm
”Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey. At the command of the Lord they remained encamped, and at the command of the Lord they journeyed; they kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.“ Numbers 9:22-23 NKJV
Encampment by the cloud in today’s airspace travel can be a signal of turbulence and chaos; and travellers have learnt how to tighten their seat belts, hold their breath or sometimes say their last prayers as long as the cloud-induced turbulence lasts. Whereas, with the evident assurance of the presence of the Lord amidst the Israelites in the cloud over the tabernacle in the wilderness, it was a symbol of calmness: ”Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey“. Even today, believers can be calm under the cloud of confusion, corruption, and chaos in the world and its systems, as long as we can consistently listen to the command of the Lord. When the Lord speaks, He restores the troubled hearts and keeps the souls of His faithful and obedient children focussed on His promises. Unfortunately, it is unrighteousness, disobedience, and wickedness within the hearts that often bring destruction; and not necessarily the surrounding cloud. As long as believers keep the charge of the Lord, there will always be peace and calmness in every cloud of troubles, trials and tribulations.
