Selfless Sacrifices

But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”“ ‭‭Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The major difference between the things of God and the things of men is woven around sacrifice. The self-centred nature of man does not understand the rational behind selfless sacrifices. He is naturally afflicted by this satanic spirit that nothing else makes sense, if it doesn’t bring a logical advancement to personal courses and the social welfare of self. Even the infected spirit in Simon Peter had to be rebuked for Jesus to focus on His selfless sacrifice for the sin of humanity. How can anyone recognize and respect the things of God with selfless sacrifices, compared with the things of men with self-centred sacrifices? Selfless sacrifices are offered with the primary intention of satisfying the mindset of God in every affair in life. Personal will and interests are inconsequential and absolutely irrelevant when the heart is fixated on selfless sacrifices. That was why, even at the highest level of agony at the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭39‬. With selfless sacrifices, everything that matters in the things of men is laid on the altar of sacrifice, whenever the things of God cross the things of men.
