Tare-less Treasure
”Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.“ Matthew 13:44 NKJV
The adage ‘the root of wealth is corrupt or all evil’ simply agrees with the scripture that says ‘the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil’. It implies that there are tares in the treasure called money, riches, promotion, and prosperity to which believers must be wary of establishing relationships with. These treasures are simply currencies that must remain under our control; and never should they be allowed to control us. Unfortunately, there is a spirit that is resident in all worldly treasures that no carnal man can stand against, unless the man sincerely finds the tare-less treasure in Christ; and he completely surrenders to His lordship. In Christ’s parable of the tare-less treasure, He provides the evidence of every believer’s genuine relationship with the riches of salvation into the kingdom of heaven. This is the undiluted willingness to forfeit all tare-laced treasures for the tare-less treasure. For example, Joseph preferred to forfeit the fleshly pleasure of a free sin and immortality with Potiphar’s wife, at the expense of a prison sentence, to gain the continued presence of God. When any genuine child of God finds the tare-less treasure in Christ, all tare-laced treasures immediately lose their attention and influence in him.
