Fruitful Fear

Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies.“ Proverbs‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬-‭31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In defining FEAR (false evidence appearing real), someone said it is simply overestimating the danger while underestimating the ability to cope. Whereas, the scripture says this fruitless fear is simply the filling of life with personal fancies against the fear of the Lord. Fruitful fear is the fear of God and the beginning of wisdom. The flow of these personal fancies in life includes confidence in our own religion, ideology, habits, vocation, lifestyle, principle, etc, demanding good counseling sessions from the Lord. And whenever we overestimate any threat to any of these fancies, it is natural for anyone to respond with fruitless fear. But when we become open to the revelation of God’s majesty, love, holiness, and promises, fear disappears. If we truly believe that we are carefully and wonderfully made by God, then we can appreciate why the fear of any lesser thing, person, motive, and intention cannot vacate the purpose of God. Therefore, fruitless fear is disrespectful to God; and faithful children of God must be open only to counsels from the Lord in running the affairs of their lives.
