Abiding Alone

““Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare; and he shall cover his mustache, and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.” ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭13:45-46‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Isolation treatment or quarantine has always been the indispensable way of controlling the spread of contagious diseases. As recently adopted globally to arrest the devastation of COVID-19 pandemic, anyone who tested positive under the theocratic screening for leprosy among the children of Israel must not only get quarantined outside the camp; he must take additional responsibility of warning others to stir clear, crying ‘Unclean! Unclean!’. Today, this additional responsibility would be a shameful service, because no one is proud of any form of isolation treatment. Whereas, abiding alone often offers undiluted access to treatment and an opportunity for speedy recovery. Symbolically, leprosy is like a contamination with sin, unrighteousness, and any form of drainage to spiritual awakening. Isolation treatment or abiding alone, like personal retreat, is usually adopted by believers who are watchful and prayerful. Unfortunately, those who hate self examination risk disqualification from the presence of God (2 Corinthians 13:5). Whereas, abiding alone to rid the heart of this world’s pollution can definitely save the soul from eternal damnation and perpetual isolation from the presence of God.
