Twisted Truth
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 NKJV
According to the dictionary, relativism is a theory that knowledge is relative to the limited nature of the mind and the conditions of knowing. It is the bedrock of respect in relationships and the accommodation of diversity in knowledge. Unfortunately, relativism provides a twisted concept of freedom - a claim of freedom in one area with a chain of bondage in other areas. This is the reason why truth, according to the best known human authority, philosopher, and influencer in this world, is understandably relative. Notwithstanding, there is always the absolute truth in all subject matters for those who care to know. It is the truth according to the One with no beginning and no ending - the Alpha and the Omega. When Jesus told the Jews who finally believed in Him “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”, He alluded to the possibility of believers holding on to the twisted truth in sacrifice of the total truth. Before an encounter with Jesus, it is understandable why we may struggle with the twisted truth about salvation from sin, freedom from sicknesses, confusion about career prospects, peace in troubled relationships, and satisfaction in crisis. Whereas, absolute trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and the revelation of His words concerning all the matters of life is the only safe haven from the twisted truth that is prevalent in our daily lifestyle and relationships.
