Consistent Consecration
“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” Daniel 6:10 NKJV
Although every believer understands that obedience to God brings blessing, it is almost impossible for many believers to pursue consistent consecration to God in the face of cruel conspiracy from fellow men. Since Daniel represented a brilliant example of the blessedness in consecration over conspiracy, it is necessary to review the source of his inspiration. Given the excellent spirit in Daniel and the open commendation from king Darius, it is not far-fetched that the cruel conspiracy from his colleagues was merely inspired by the spirit of competition. “Now when Daniel knew that the writing [the product of his colleagues’ cruel conspiracy] was signed”, Daniel’s response provided the secret of a consistent consecration for those who must keep their focus on God as the Source of commendation in life. Otherwise, Daniel could have fallen into the den of cruel conspiracy, by being bitter against his colleagues, king Darius, and even God, for planning or permitting the signing of the unfair decree. When believers put God as the Source of their commendation in life, they will keep their consistent consecration to Him alive; even when they are passed through the den of lion, they will not be captured by the net of cruel conspiracy.
