Self Service

“In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.””

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭11:25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Even in the most solemn observance of the Holy Communion Service, self serving option is the undisputed order. And while the Church readily learn from the Apostle’s rebuke of the reported disorderliness in some Corinthians, it is often difficult for many to observe the scriptural distinction between the self serving and the self service admonition. It is important to note that in ‘This do, as often as you drink it’, ‘This do’ is self service; while ‘as often as you drink it’ is self serving. While the ordinance of the Holy Communion service holds in favour of the self serving order, it is the sacrificing of self in self service that we are admonished not to leave out in remembrance of the sacred Lamb of God. And in all of human presentation at home, workplace and the society, there is always a sense of repugnance in every service without the aroma of self service. No matter how smart the disguise, whenever people see self serving without self service, they often wear the caution cap.
