Devotional Delight

“Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the LORD.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭9:23-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Prudence, power, position and prosperity are resourceful in the pursuit of dignity and purpose in life; but they can equally constitute a dangerous weapon of destruction in the hands of misguided elements. A house, enterprise or city that runs purely on material resources, and without the fear of God, would readily breed chaos-provoked pride, disrespect and indiscipline. Whereas, knowing God and submitting to His will provides the needed grace to fruitfully manage life’s earthly possessions. A devotional delight in the pursuits of righteousness enables the heart to understand the deeper things of God, while relating with the matters of life. Access to either of prudence, power, position or prosperity alone readily draw the heart to a wrong conclusion on most of life’s issues. But if any heart must delight purely in love, discretions, and righteousness, in relating with people in his life, he must cultivate a devotional delight in the presence of God.
