Fit Followers

“And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:61-62‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/luk.9.61-62.nkjv
In our fast-paced world, the ability to multitask efficiently is considered one of the great virtues of productivity in management. Resources and attentions are necessarily divided among different lines of projects, albeit with different scale of preferences and quality expectations. Unfortunately, the concept of multitasking is refuted by Jesus Christ as an asset in kingdom service. He pointedly preferred fit followers to fair followers, demanding all of His disciple’s commitments or none of theirs. While fit followers of the Cross are not necessarily forbad from necessary social engagements, family commitments, and community responsibilities, they do not need to pursue a leave of absence from the Cross for a share fellowship with the world. As long as the Master is leading, servants of the Cross can follow the Lord for fruitful representation in selected social engagements, workplace events and community services. Ultimately, the whole wide world is a field of consecration for the services of fit followers; but it is a field of compromise for fair followers.
