Good Good

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/luk.6.45.nkjv
While reflecting on the last Facebook posting of a friend, moments before boarding yesterday’s ill-fated Ethiopian Airplane: “If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me (Psalms 139:9-10 NKJV)”, it was noted that this good and heaven-bound posting could not have been motivated by evil and earth-centric heart. Here in Christ’s concluding remarks to His disciples, He ruled out the common excuse of many believers’ indulgence of unrighteous outbursts during provocation and the pressure of life. The message to godly hearts is clear: deal with the heart and do not major in drilling the mouth. Many and increasingly negative complications and communication in life are the sources of uninvited provocation and avoidable heated arguments at home, fellowship and workplaces; but none of these evils is the source of any heart’s polluted outbursts. The corrosive environment merely expose the stuff the heart of man is either intrinsically or stylishly made of. It is not enough for the mouth to say the prayer of Balaam, when the heart is not prepared to sing with the angels. Obviously, when the heart is good, the utterances and outbursts are always good.
