High Heart

“Your fierceness has deceived you, The pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Who hold the height of the hill! Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭49:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.49.16.nkjv
If dwelling in the clefts of the rock created a delightful attraction in the days of Edom, building stations in the space in our days must be a blown-away attraction for the likes of today’s Elon Musk. However, it is instructive to note that the burden of Edom was not ‘the ride to your height’ but ‘the pride of your heart’. The stride in the height of man means nothing to God; but many things go wrong when the heart goes high. ‘Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall’, says the holy scriptures. Promotion in career life and ministry or prosperity through business achievement is a delightful experience, until the detestable pride stage a revolting mess in the heart. Whereas, it is possible for the heart to remain focussed in praise with every stride in height. It takes the grace of God for an humble heart to see Jesus always in action and at the Centre of attraction, leaving the heart perpetually blown-away by praise instead of pride.
