Worthwhile Words
“Then Jeremiah came from Tophet, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the Lord’s house and said to all the people, “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I will bring on this city and on all her towns all the doom that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their necks that they might not hear My words.’ ””
Jeremiah 19:14-15 NKJV

Words are both powerful molder of lives and possible waster of lives at the same time. While God’s words bring light into the soul of man, the whispers from the enemy (like worldly musics, lustful expressions, inciteful statements, rebellious disposition, etc) are the sources of darkness to any promising life. Unfortunately, the style and experiences of life expose a man to light and darkness almost all the time. A concerned soul would ask “how can the soul be spared from the doom of darkness?”. When God’s words brought the doom warning of the influence of wasteful words to the people of Jerusalem and the priests of Judah, it was clear that God is equally and consistently concerned about the redemption of the soul of man from the power of darkness. Although the caring love of God and His warning appear to provide a sufficient way of escape for concerned souls, the conversion of the will of man is indispensable: “they have stiffened their necks that they might not hear My words”. No matter the flashy amusements in wasteful words and musics of the world, the worthwhile words from God are the only source purity, peace, and prosperity. Unfortunately, even when the worthwhile words run freely, the heart must be willing and obedient for any meaningful influence for righteousness.
