Sweet Sacrifices
“Thus says the LORD: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it. ’ Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’...For what purpose to Me Comes frankincense from Sheba, And sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, Nor your sacrifices sweet to Me.””
Jeremiah 6:16-17, 20 NKJV

Waiting on the Lord in the days of ‘Google’, ‘Ask Siri’, and social networking appears a complex dimension to ‘Standing in the ways and see, And asking for the old paths’ in the days of old. Active men prefer doing to waiting or standing, especially when intellectual capabilities are in competitive mood. Even in Christian services, a lot of activities are easily powered by the sacrifices of diplomacy, silver and gold from active men. Beautiful mansion, organized programming, and effective distribution are fashionable screen cover for the weariness of the soul. However, the Almighty God declared that walking in the old paths is preferable to the offering of sour sacrifices. Sometimes, He delights in introducing useful breaks on our entourages to Sheba and far countries so as to assist in finding contentment in the secret place, only if we dare to listen and not attempt to jump the breaks. Unfortunately, it is difficult to convince an able and independent man to wait for a ‘useless Guide’. Invariably, absolute trust in the Lord is required in order to accept the sweetness in offering the unattractive sacrifices in righteousness.
