Forsaken Fountain
““For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
Jeremiah 2:13 NKJV

As long as artificial fountains can serve the purposes of architectural beatification and decorations, they are sometimes mistaken as flowing fountains or deliberately minded not as fake fountains. But beyond the fantasy of picture posing and social entertainment, fake fountains do not have capacity to satisfy the soul of man with the needed freshness. Israel is reported to commit these two evils: flowing fountain forsaken and fake fountain flocking. It is important to note that the patronage of fake fountains wouldn’t have constituted any evil if the pursuit of the freshness in the flowing fountain is not a problem. Roaming in the marketplace of life could just be fun, if the marketplace is not turned a bedroom whenever rest is desirable. Challenges of life can present the soul of man with a frantic search for help from fake fountains. And, straight legs would prefer to take a long distance walk than waiting on bended knees, because the taste of the undiluted freshness from the throne of grace is destroyed by worldly affection. Oh for grace to always cry like the Psalmist “when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I”. The road to the flowing fountain of grace may appear long, it is always shorter and safer than the destructive routes with fake fountains.
