Holy Heart
“For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
Isaiah 57:15 NKJV

Holiness will always be a myth for the simple reason of man’s inability to take the entire responsibility of ridding his heart from stones - the stumbling blocks of life. Even after repentance and assurance of salvation from dead works, the struggle for freedom from the natural and besetting anatomy of the heart appears insurmountable. When the High and Lofty One declared to Israel “I dwell in the high and holy place...”, the intimidating feeling cannot be underestimated. However, many often miss the fact that what the holy declaration demands is really a humble spirit rather than an holy heart. With a contrite and humble spirit, God takes the entire responsibility for the heart’s holiness. It is the ability to daily fall upon the holy hill that makes holiness works for the humble. Unfortunately, the proud in spirit cannot sustain the fire of revival and will remain alienated from the reality of retaining the high and holy hill in a lowly heart.
