Greedy Gains
“Yes, they are greedy dogs Which never have enough. And they are shepherds Who cannot understand; They all look to their own way, Every one for his own gain, From his own territory.”
Isaiah 56:11 NKJV

Sometimes, the perceived fruitlessness of shepherds is borne out of their lack of clear understanding on appropriate positioning in response to the plight of sheep. Unlike responsible shepherds, strategic positioning for the benefits of personal progress, promotion and preservation is driven by self-satisfaction. And the accumulation of the gains in self-achievements is preferred to the accommodation of the glory in selfless advances. Whereas, God’s warnings against irresponsible leaders highlight the problem of greed as the basis of fruitlessness. While shepherds are not ignorant of the expected selflessness in their call to ministry, it is often difficult to understand the danger of personal profiling and positioning. However, God’s priests are peculiar people and a collection of His personal possessions. He is absolutely interested in the path and plight of His chosen Shepherd. Therefore, God’s positioning is preferable to the activation of accumulation-inspired human intelligence. And His profiling only supports the accommodation of divine inspiration. In exchange of all attraction to greedy gains, great gains pursue the prospects of fruitfulness in the understanding of a solemn call to godliness with contentment.
