Cheap Calls

““But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob; And you have been weary of Me, O Israel...Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:22, 26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/isa.43.22,26.nkjv
Weariness in long-distance relationships is common to everyone, especially with the attendant costs of maintaining cordiality. In such relationships, the search for cheap calls often lead many to compromise of quality and a possible neglect of the sweetness from intimate fellowship. For example, the loving God declared to His precious Jacob or Israel, “But you have not called upon Me...”. The scriptures says the price for calling the throne of grace includes clean hands and a pure heart. Otherwise, the access to heaven becomes an unaffordable long-distance call, leading to the frustration of searching for cheap calls to the mammoth of this world. Consequently, self-inflicted weariness breeds depression, anxiety, slavery to sin and unrighteousness; but Christ offers rest from any form of weariness, for all who realize the futility in contending alone. Unfortunately, cheap calls to zones outside the throne of grace offer nothing more than unending weariness and wobbliness.
