Worthwhile Wealth

“And he said, “What have they seen in your house?” So Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.” Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: ‘Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left,’ says the LORD.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭39:4-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.us/114/isa.39.4-6.nkjv
The extension of up to 15 years to king Hezekiah’s life was not a common privilege, given the ample period of time that can be invested to make significant life-changing impression for a memorable and worthwhile legacy. Since a permanent rest from war threat from the king of Assyria represented a desirable achievement and a worthwhile legacy to bequeath his successor, the building of strong military arsenal and a prospective alliance with the king of Babylon would possibly be a commonsensical initiative. Unfortunately, the word of the Lord revealed that this commonsensical initiative was not just a wasteful adventure; it turned out to be a sellout of Judah’s military strength to the Babylonians. However, the scriptures later revealed that the investment of the word of God in the hearts of the princes turned eunuch in Babylon worth more than the building of military wealth. For example, the building of strong conviction in the God of heaven in Daniel and his colleagues later worth more than the combined military and political wealth of Babylon. Therefore, even when the world boost of taking away the accumulation of its material wealth in believer’s life and family affairs, the worthwhile wealth is Jesus Christ in the heart of the redeemed. No moth nor rust can destroy the worthwhile wealth, which is the unspeakable joy of the Lord in a saved soul.
