Reliable Refuge

“Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD, You alone.”” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭37:18-20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/isa.37.18-20.nkjv
Human creativity and intelligence have developed beautiful things and technologies for improved comfort and satisfaction of humanity. Likewise, advances in the work of men’s hands have shown that wood and stone can now provide shelter in castle, transportation in rockets, security in missiles, etc. Unfortunately, the souls of men appear to still grow in insecurity and anxiety with improved artificial comfort and material satisfaction. And like in the days of king Hezekiah, true salvation comes from the only true God, whose refuge cannot be destroyed by the threat of economic depreciation, human invasion or militancy, and cunning craftiness of men. No matter the sophistication in human intelligence, genuine salvation remains the derivative of the state of human heart and soul rather than the status of human body. Therefore, God’s salvation is a reliable refuge because it offers true comfort without insecurity and true satisfaction without anxiety.
