Pleasant Plant
“For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, And the men of Judah are His pleasant plant. He looked for justice, but behold, oppression; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.”
Isaiah 5:7 NKJV

There is an attractive idealism “Alagemo” in a Yoruba adage ‘Alagemo ti bi’mo retan...’ that supports the creativity in shared responsibilities. Likewise, God compares the men of Judah to His pleasant plant with the perfect expectation of a shared responsibility in the Creator-creature relationship. Unlike those who are still in the large mix of sin slavery and aliens to the commonwealth of Israel, the men of Judah have a special covenant relationship with God, built on conditional provisions and promises. Unfortunately, the pleasant plant of God often responds appreciably to the sophisticated pollution and negative influences than the provisions of grace and mercy. Like the adamic nature would query, whose responsibility is lacking? However, the redeemed of the Lord is expected to place emphasis in his portion of the shared responsibility, especially considering the distinction between an ordinary plant and a pleasant plant. If he knows how pleasant he is to God, he would be determined to keep off the sophisticated pollution and negative influences of the world. After all, it is better to sacrifice the apparent pleasantries in worldly attractions in order to preserve the pleasantries in the love of God.
