Malta Matters
“So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary.”
Acts 28:9-10 NKJV

Paul and his co-travellers had suffered over 2 weeks of thunderous storm on the sea before arriving Malta - an island of people with myriad of needs, covered by their seeds of love. And he also got welcomed into Malta by a viper. It was a perfect reflection of the different experiences of life with constantly changing perception of curious observers, trying to figure out the essence of life's unpredictable challenges. However, the opportunities to minister to the people of Malta stand out as experiences that can never be forgotten by the people whose lives were touched. In spite of the suffered shipwreck, the survived shockwave from venomous viper, the escaped extermination threat from soldiers, and the list continues, what constitutes the catalogue of the changing perceptions of people about Paul do not cancel the unchanging purpose from those real life experiences. Therefore, the struggle to change the perception of people or their contributing influences on personal life does not really matter much. For example, the personal struggle to stay safe is not as important to God as the focus on the mission to heal Publius' father in Malta? While the accuracy of anyone's conception is contentious, there is no contention in the fact that the mission of Paul to Malta matter more to its residents. Although life's experiences are not necessarily fair, positive attitude that brightens the darkness in other people's lives fair more.
