Rest Room

“And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/gen.26.22.nkjv
No one enjoys a thousand mile road trip, irrespective of the pleasantries of attraction, without a frequent service of rest rooms. Isaac had the pleasantries of God's abiding presence and promises at the beginning of his sojourn in the land of Gerar: "Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father". But the experience of envy that followed, with the people of the land, wasn't a pleasant tale. Apparently, God withheld the expected rest room, in spite of the promises of His presence. Believers often query the unexpected challenges at home, workplace, and the journey of life, especially when the promise of God's presence was guaranteed at the commencement of the journey. Even when Isaac finally testified "For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land”, God could read clearly the inherent concern about God's presence in the face of the challenges of life. And the Lord [re-]appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.” The reality is that God's rest room is not always the people's expected rest room. His abiding presence is always a sufficient rest room, even when it appeared laid with unreasonable struggle and pain.
